Where: Tanzania, Dakawa

A place where dreams come home

In a region shaped by wild beauty and daily hardship, life flows through villages, ancient traditions, and limited resources. It is in this corner of Tanzania — among the Maasai, Waluguru, Wasukuma tribes and many others — that a new path is taking shape. An initiative born from deep listening to the community and built day by day through concrete, shared actions.

At the Dakawa mission, founded in 2003 by two Croatian missionaries, Father Drazan Klapez and Father Nikola Saric, a long-term vision for the future has been nurtured. Thanks in part to our support, on September 4, 2025, the Church of Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta was consecrated – a new spiritual and social landmark for the entire village. The celebration was led by the Bishop of the Diocese of Morogoro, Monsignor Lazarus Vitalis Msimbe SDS.

On this occasion, 44 couples exchanged their vows before God, and 198 young people received the sacrament of confirmation. It was a joyful celebration attended by 2,800 faithful.

Our commitment continues with the construction of a multifunctional center equipped with dormitories for girls — a place of education, connection, and hospitality for over 1,500 young people. The center will offer educational and cultural activities, as well as opportunities for dialogue among different tribes and religions, also welcoming international volunteers. Within the center, a safe and dignified dormitory will ensure that girls have the chance to study and build their future — even in difficult family circumstances.
